Moderated Comments and Freelancer Advice

2/19/2010

I will never understand why some people just can't handle a discenting opinion. I recently ran across a blog entry on E-Lance that proposed that people were switching their careers for freelancing. The blog entry entitled Trading Careers For Gigs (http://www.elance.com/p/blog/2010/02/trading_careers_for_gigs.html?rid=1P4A0) cited the curent employment numbers as proof of their claim. I found the article biased and posted what I considered a well constructed comment that expressed that I disagreed with the article. I wasn't rude, although I did state that the article was basically advertising for ELance (maybe that was where I crossed the line?). The comment of course never got posted.

You can't always blame the OS

I recently came across an article about FireFox 3.0.5 on ZDNet in which they bashed FireFox 3.0.5 on the Mac (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=2668&tag=nl.e550). Several commenters blamed the Mac for the vulnerabilities since the Windows and Linux versions were not riddled with these issues. This was completely unfair to Apple.

Why Yahoo shouldn't play poker.

Let’s face it, Yahoo either didn't want to be bought by Microsoft, or they were trying to suck as much from Microsoft as they thought they could get away with. I'm personally thinking the latter. If you've played Texas Holdem, this is similar. You want to bet as much as you can without betting so much that you scare the other fish off. Yahoo basically blew it.
